What is most worrisome is that if about half a dozen by-elections held on December 04, could not be held in peaceful, transparent and conducive atmosphere, without violence, how will the Election Commission ensure compliance of election rules during the holding of the next general election in the length and breadth of the entire country? The task of holding next general election in peaceful and transparent manner, at present, looks extremely bleak and simply beyond the ability of the most amiable Fakhro Bhai, the incumbent CEC.
If effective measures are not put in place and taken to hold the 2013 national elections under the applicable code of conduct and election rules, in peaceful atmosphere, these could be the bloodiest, most chaotic yet and the results, abjectly lacking in credibility, in the unfortunate country's entire chequered history, that could jeopardise the prospects of undiluted democracy, the very survival and future of the nation, with concurrent falling apart of all State institution, marred by unprecedented chaos, mayhem and instability.
Perhaps, a technocratic interim government, comprising incorruptible, duly qualified, astute professionals and experts, for an extended term of tenure, to put the country on path to recovery, on all counts, such as economic viability, effective management of energy crises, good governance, establishment of writ of the state, effective, transparent and non-partisan accountability, restoration of law and order across the country, remains the only option to address the multitudes of the excruciating woes of the nation and to get rid of the crooked dynastical political hold, followed by a ruthless cleansing of the wicked and moth-ridden political system!
